Due to the increasing number of students interested in studying the harp and participating in the American Youth Harp Ensemble, we added the Lyra Ensemble in 2005. The Lyra Ensemble, currently comprised of 15-20 students, allows newer, less experienced students to begin learning from the experience of preparing for and performing concerts, while still allowing the Concert and Touring Ensembles to perform more challenging music in more challenging settings.
It is our hope that, in time, each Lyra Ensemble member will graduate to the Concert Ensemble, and then on to the Touring Ensemble, providing a consistent progression of challenges and learning experiences for our students.
